Elevator Co-Warehousing Opens Largest Location to Date With St. Louis Ribbon Cutting

Elevator’s 67,300-square-foot Macklind Avenue facility opened August 20 with roughly 70 businesses already inside, about half full on day one.

We picked St. Louis on purpose. Everyone we met here was generous with their connections; the entrepreneurial energy is real, and it did not take long before this felt like home.”

ST. LOUIS, MO, UNITED STATES, August 28, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Elevator Co-Warehousing marked the official opening of its St. Louis location with a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, August 20, drawing members, partners, civic leaders, and local business owners to the company’s facility at 1230 Macklind Avenue.

St. Louis is Elevator’s fifth location nationally and its second in Missouri, following a North Kansas City facility that opened in December 2025. At 67,300 square feet and 130 individual business spaces, St. Louis is the largest site the company has built. Roughly 70 businesses were already working inside the building on opening day, putting it a little more than half full before the ribbon was cut.

The event ran from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and included guided tours, complimentary food and drinks, live music, games, raffles and giveaways. Guests walked through warehouse units, private offices, coworking areas and the shared loading dock, and met the on-site community team.

A Building Made for Logistics, Not Retrofitted for It

The Macklind Avenue property was originally built in 1963 and sits on nearly three acres in the Kings Oak area, roughly midway between Interstate 64 and Interstate 44 and about five miles from downtown St. Louis. It includes 13 dock-high doors, 12.5-foot clear ceiling height, 400- and 800-amp electrical service, 118 parking spaces, and zoning that permits outdoor storage. St. Louis Downtown Airport is about 10 miles southeast for businesses that need air freight access.

Those specifications are why the site became Elevator’s largest. Rather than converting office space and adapting it for warehousing, the company took a property built for freight handling and layered flexible office and coworking space on top of it.

State and Regional Support Behind the Expansion

Elevator’s move into St. Louis drew attention well beyond the local business press. When the location was announced in November 2025, Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe issued a statement welcoming the company’s continued growth in the state and describing expansions of this kind as reinforcing Missouri’s standing as “a prime location for innovative businesses.”

Ron Kitchens, CEO of Greater St. Louis, Inc., said at the time that Elevator’s expansion demonstrates a region drawing entrepreneurs from around the country rather than simply growing its own. Subash Alias, CEO of Missouri Partnership, pointed to the state’s central logistics position and workforce as reasons growing companies choose Missouri, and noted that Elevator’s model lowers the cost of entry for makers and e-commerce brands looking to scale. Greater St. Louis, Inc., Missouri Partnership and St. Louis City Alderman Michael Browning all supported the company’s site search.

Locally, the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership’s business finance division worked with the Lerdas to secure a revolving loan fund covering a portion of startup costs. The building was developed by Field Day Development, with architecture by JEMA and construction by Musick Construction.

From a Living Room in Omaha to Five Midwest Markets

Founders Shannon and Emiliano Lerda led the ribbon-cutting and used the ceremony to trace the company’s history and thank the partners who brought the location together. Elevator grew out of the couple’s own experience running an e-commerce brand from home. After outgrowing their living room and finding no flexible warehouse space sized for a company their size, they opened the first Elevator in Omaha, Nebraska, in 2022. Lincoln, Des Moines, and North Kansas City followed.

“We picked St. Louis on purpose. Everyone we met here was generous with their connections, the entrepreneurial energy in this city is real, and it did not take long before this felt like home to us,” said Shannon Lerda, President and Co-Founder of Elevator.

“Having close to 70 businesses already operating in the building on the day we opened tells us this market wanted what we are building,” said Emiliano Lerda, CEO and Co-Founder of Elevator. “Our job now is to keep the space running well for the companies that trusted us first.”
