SAN LEANDRO, CA, UNITED STATES, August 14, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Davis Street Community Center brought the community together on Saturday, August 8, for its annual Community Outreach & Resource Fair, welcoming more than 1,200 attendees for a day filled with free resources, food, family activities, and back to school support.
The event featured more than 20 community resource organizations, connecting community members with health, social service, transportation, education, senior, family, and community resources.

“Events like this are an important part of our mission because they bring resources directly to the families and individuals we serve,” said Daniel Johnson, CEO of Davis Street Community Center. “We are incredibly grateful to our community partners, volunteers, donors, and staff who helped make this year’s fair such a success.”
Davis Street also provided a variety of free health and family services throughout the fair. Community members had the opportunity to receive blood pressure checks, dental screenings, and stress assessments, providing convenient access to wellness resources and information. Children and families also enjoyed face painting and other activities throughout the event, making the fair an engaging experience for community members of all ages.
Attendees enjoyed a complimentary lunch generously provided and prepared by the Alameda County Fire Fighters Association, Local 55. Davis Street extends its appreciation to Local 55 for helping provide a meal for community members throughout the event.
The fair featured a free farmers market, offering community members the opportunity to select fresh, nutritious produce at no cost. Families and individuals were able to take home a variety of fresh foods, including cabbage, celery, romaine lettuce, pineapple, apples, plums, iceberg lettuce, and strawberries, providing nutritious options to enjoy at home.
The fair offered raffles throughout the event, giving community members the opportunity to win a variety of donated prizes and themed baskets. Each Davis Street department hosted a raffle basket featuring items connected to the services they provide.
Children’s Services offered a movie-night-themed basket designed for families to enjoy together, while Dental Services raffled off electric toothbrushes and other dental care supplies. Behavioral Health provided a basket filled with stress-relieving items focused on wellness and relaxation. Intellectual Disabilities Services contributed a basket featuring a paint set, sensory toys, and earphones, providing sensory-friendly activities and items for creativity, relaxation, and enjoyment.
Children also had the opportunity to participate in bike raffles, adding an exciting element for young attendees and families.
The Community Outreach & Resource Fair also coincided with Davis Street’s annual Back to School Drive, helping local children prepare for the upcoming school year.
Davis Street distributed more than 500 backpacks filled with school supplies, including notebooks, pencils, and other essential classroom items. Children also received Nike shoes, helping ensure that students have the supplies they need to start the school year with confidence.
The Back to School Drive was made possible through the generosity of donors and community supporters who contributed backpacks, school supplies, shoes, and monetary donations to help local families.

The turnout of more than 1,200 attendees reflects the continued need of bringing resources to the community and the impact that can be made when community works together.
